Ashley Pigford, Professor, Department of Art and Design, University of Delaware
Ashley is a typographer, teacher, designer, engineer, and old-school maker.

Ashley grew up taking things apart to see how they worked. This innate curiosity and self-determinism provided many opportunities in his life, and still does today. Here is a brief chronology of his creative output.
1996 – 1998
Ashley graduated from the University of Delaware in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications. With skills in web development and graphic design, he moved to Los Angeles, CA.
After a few entry level design jobs, he was asked by Tim Stedman, Creative Director at MCA Records, to be his Design Assistant. Guided by Tim's tutelage, Ashley designed record packages and related merchandise for many MCA recording artists, including:
Blink 182's Dude Ranch (1997)
Sublime Acoustic: Bradley Nowell & Friends (1998)
Jesse Powell's 'Bout It (1998)

1998 – 2000
Ashley left MCA Records to focus on web development, working at DNA Studio, designing and programming websites for Fox Searchlight movies, among others.
In 1999, he was offered a Senior Art Director position at Think New Ideas, and worked on various startup web services.
2000 – 2003
A few months into the new millenium, Ashley left his full time job, joined forces with Todd Gallopo, and formed Meat and Potatoes, a design company serving various entertainment clients. With a studio in Silverlake, CA, Meat and Potatoes grew from the two of them to a fully realized creative studio offering a full range of design and consulting services. The client list is extensive, but here are a few of the projects Ashley was involved with:
Main Titles for the Fox's TV show Firefly
